What is Split Rock Cactus
The Split Rock Cactus, Pleiospilos nelii, requires bright but indirect light and thrives in porous, well-draining soil. It does best in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 9b to 11b, tolerating minimum winter temperatures from 25 to 50 °F (-3.9 to 10 °C). During its dormant period in the summer, it needs little to no water, but it should be watered thoroughly in the fall once it resumes growth, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. It doesn’t require frequent fertilization, and repotting is only necessary every few years to give it more space.
